On Tuesday morning, a Chennai Metro train experienced a technical issue, causing it to stop suddenly in a tunnel. Passengers were stuck inside the train for some time before officials safely evacuated them. Videos circulating online showed commuters waiting inside the stalled train, and many assumed it was due to a power failure.

Why Did the Mishap Happen?
Chennai Metro Rail later released an official statement explaining what happened. They confirmed that the train had stopped between the High Court Metro Station and Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Metro Station due to a technical issue. Metro staff acted quickly, evacuated all passengers safely, and removed the faulty train from service. Normal train operations resumed by 6:20 AM, ensuring minimal disruption for the rest of the morning.
This incident comes at a time when other major metro networks in India have also faced similar issues. Recently, Bengaluru's Namma Metro experienced delays on the Yellow Line during the morning rush. Though the delay was brief, it affected many office commuters and students heading towards central Bengaluru.
Other Metro Lines Also Faced Delays
Before that, a key section of Mumbai Metro's Line 1 also faced a major delay. Services on the busy Versova-Ghatkopar corridor were halted for more than 30 minutes because of a technical fault in one of the trains. Mumbai Metro One Private Limited identified the issue and restored services after resolving the problem.
Earlier in August, Delhi Metro's Yellow Line also experienced disruptions. The delay led to crowded coaches and packed platforms as passengers waited for services to return to normal.
These incidents highlight the challenges that large metro networks across India occasionally face. While technical glitches do happen, metro authorities usually respond quickly to ensure passenger safety and restore normal service as soon as possible.
