and will apply during morning peak hours from 8 am to 11 am and evening peak hours from 5 pm to 8 pm. The changes cover the Airport to Wimco Nagar Depot stretch.

New Schedule of Trains

As per the new schedule, trains running between Airport Metro and Arignar Anna Alandur Metro will continue to operate every six minutes during peak hours. The biggest improvement is on the busy central section between Arignar Anna Alandur Metro and Washermenpet Metro, where trains will now run every three minutes throughout peak hours. Earlier, this stretch had a mix of three-minute and six-minute intervals, which often caused confusion and crowding. Services between Washermenpet Metro and Wimco Nagar Depot Metro will also continue at six-minute intervals. CMRL expects that the increased frequency will help reduce congestion on platforms and make travel more comfortable, without affecting the efficiency of metro operations.

Announcement Regarding Loss of Metro Cards

In a separate announcement, CMRL reminded passengers that balances on lost Metro Travel Cards cannot be transferred or refunded. This applies to both CMRL travel cards and Singara Chennai National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC), which are widely used for metro travel and parking. If a card is lost, any remaining balance on it is also lost, and the cardholder is responsible for any misuse.

CMRL explained that the money stored on these cards is kept in an offline wallet, which cannot be blocked remotely. Due to rules set by the Reserve Bank of India and the National Payments Corporation of India, refunds or balance transfers are not possible. Unlike online wallets, the risk of loss remains with the user.
