To help passengers travel smoothly during the Holi festival, Central Railway has planned 28 special trains. These trains will connect major cities like Mumbai, Nagpur, Madgaon, Nanded, and Pune. This step is taken to meet the high demand for travel during the festive season.

More Trains for Travelers
Every year, many people travel to different places to celebrate Holi with family and friends. To help them, special trains will run on different routes. These trains include bi-weekly, weekly, and overnight options with AC and sleeper coaches. This makes travel more convenient and comfortable for passengers.
One of the important routes is the Mumbai-Nagpur bi-weekly special. This train will leave from CSMT on March 9, 11, 16, and 18 at 12:20 am. The return journey from Nagpur will be on the same dates at 8:00 pm. This overnight train will provide a smooth journey for travelers.
For those heading to Goa, a special weekly train from Mumbai will leave from CSMT on March 6 and 13 at 12:20 am. This will help travelers enjoy a hassle-free journey to the popular coastal destination.
Travel Challenges During Holi
Holi is a busy time for travel, and many people face difficulties in booking tickets. Passengers traveling from Pune to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are struggling to find seats. Trains like the Pune-Danapur Express and Pune-Banaras Express are already fully booked until March 20.
The high demand has also affected air travel. Airfares to Patna have increased, making it difficult for people to afford flight tickets. Some travelers are now looking for other options, like hiring private vehicles or taking multiple connecting journeys to reach their destinations.
Despite the extra trains, railway officials are concerned about handling the large number of passengers. Managing the crowd and ensuring a smooth journey during this peak season remains a challenge.
Special Trains and More Travel Options
To further improve connectivity, the Mumbai-Nanded weekly special will leave from LTT on March 12 and 19 at 12:55 am. The Pune-Nagpur weekly special will leave from Pune on March 11 and 18 at 3:50 pm. These additional services are part of Central Railway's plan to accommodate more passengers during Holi.
Many travelers, including Mukul Tiwari, Gyanesh Vartak, and Kushalnath Singh, have shared their struggles with ticket availability and cancellations. This shows the difficulty of traveling during festive seasons, even with special trains in place.
Central Railway's decision to run 28 special trains during Holi 2025 will help many passengers reach their destinations. These trains offer different routes and schedules to make travel easier. However, the demand is still very high, and not everyone may get a seat. Managing this rush and ensuring a safe journey for all passengers will be the key challenge for railway officials.
