Frequent technical problems on Bengaluru Metro's Yellow Line have left daily commuters disappointed. On Wednesday morning, a brake system failure in one of the trains caused major delays during rush hour. Normal services were restored by 8:45 am. This was the fourth disruption since the Yellow Line started operations in

August.
Reasons Behind the Delay
A senior official from the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) explained that the issue was caused by a problem in the train's brake system. Normally, such a fault should be fixed within five minutes, but on Wednesday, it took longer than expected.
Commuters Expressed Frustration
Many passengers expressed frustration over the repeated breakdowns and the lack of clear information from the authorities. Ravish, a regular commuter, said that technical issues have become common on the Yellow Line. He added that train frequency is already low, and these delays make travel even more difficult for passengers who depend on the Metro to reach work or school on time.
Limited Trains on the Yellow Line
The 19-kilometre-long Yellow Line currently has only five train sets. All five operate during peak hours, while only four are used during non-peak hours. According to sources, the limited number of trains and short maintenance windows are creating operational challenges. The shortage of time for proper maintenance is likely contributing to the repeated technical issues.
Commuters' Rising Demand
Commuters have urged BMRCL to improve communication and increase the number of trains to avoid overcrowding and long waiting times. Regular maintenance and better planning, they say, could help prevent such disruptions in the future. For now, BMRCL officials have assured that efforts are being made to strengthen the maintenance system and ensure smoother operations on the Yellow Line.
