Residents across several parts of Bhopal are likely to face temporary inconvenience on Saturday, May 23, 2026, as the electricity department has announced scheduled power shutdowns in multiple areas of the city. The planned outages are being carried out due to a range of infrastructure and maintenance activities, including NHAI line shifting work, metro construction work, DTR charging, pole painting and regular line maintenance work.
Authorities have stated that the shutdowns are necessary to support ongoing urban development projects and improve power infrastructure. Different localities will witness electricity interruptions at varying times during the day, with some areas expected to experience outages ranging from two to six hours.
People living in the affected localities are advised to plan their schedules in advance, particularly those working from home, students attending online sessions, businesses dependent on uninterrupted power and households relying on electrical appliances during daytime hours.
Areas Facing Power Cut From 8:00 AM To 2:00 PM
Power supply is expected to remain suspended in localities including Patel Nagar, Anand Nagar, Oriental College area, NRI College surroundings, Sanskriti Marriage Garden, Akanksha Marriage Garden, Gandharv Colony, Shukla Petrol Pump, Mont Fort School, Patel Nagar Gil Dhaba and Omega Colony due to pole painting work.
During the same time period, electricity disruption is also expected in Green Valley, Kolua Village, Sagar Landmark, Radhakrishna Puram, Khejda Baramad, PMAY Multy and Bhanpur Khanti areas because of NHAI line shifting work.
Areas around ML Highrise and Eco Green Park are also likely to witness power interruptions for similar infrastructure activities.
Areas Affected Due To Metro Construction Work
As metro expansion work continues in Bhopal, several regions are expected to witness temporary shutdowns between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
The affected localities include Firdos Nagar, Shitla Nagar, Nishatpura, Shri Nagar, Shardar Nagar and Nariyal Kheda.
Power interruptions are also expected around Berasia Road, Bafna Colony, Green Colony, Green Park Colony, Ber Road and Congress Nagar.
Additional localities expected to be affected include PGBT Road, Gautam Nagar, Firdosh Nagar, Shital Nagar, Sant Kaver Ram Colony, Hanuman Mandir Teela, Gangour Ki Bawadi and Old Naka Quazi Camp areas.
DTR Charging And Maintenance-Related Shutdowns
Areas near Patra Road, Bharat Talkies Chauraha, Pushpam Apartment, Shakir Ali Hospital, Sangam Talkies, Gurdwara Road, Sabzi Mandi and Mandir Kamali are likely to face power cuts between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM due to DTR charging work.
Meanwhile, Machhli Market, Itwara Chauki and Ishlam Pura are expected to see outages from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Electricity supply will also remain affected in Yadgare Shahajani Park and Lady Hospital surroundings from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM because of maintenance activities.
Separately, residents of Wireless Colony, Regional College area, Anshal Bhawan and nearby farmhouse localities may experience power interruptions between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM due to line maintenance work.
Citizens are advised to charge electronic devices beforehand and make alternate arrangements where necessary to minimise inconvenience during the scheduled shutdown period.
