Residents across several parts of Bhopal are likely to face scheduled power interruptions on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, as maintenance and infrastructure work will be carried out by the electricity department and associated agencies. The planned shutdowns are expected to affect multiple residential areas for a few hours during the day.
Officials said power supply will be temporarily suspended because of NHAI-related maintenance activities, conductor stringing work, pole shifting and transformer-related work. Residents have been advised to complete essential household tasks in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Areas Affected Between 8:00 AM And 2:00 PM
Power supply may remain disrupted in:
- Saubhagya Nagar
- Subhash Colony (A, B and C sectors)
- Sundar Nagar
- Vankatesh Nagar
- Vyanjan Dhaba area
- Paras Height and nearby localities
Reason: Conductor stringing work and NHAI-related pole shifting work.
Areas Facing Outage Between 8:00 AM And 1:00 PM
The following areas are expected to experience a shutdown:
- Hinotiya
- Tata Motors servicing centre area
- Nearby residential localities
Reason: Conductor augmentation and pole erection work.
Areas Affected Between 10:30 AM And 12:30 PM
Residents in these localities may also experience temporary interruptions:
- Indraprasth
- Suncity
- Indravihar
- Aditya Avenue
- Huj House area
- Manuabhan Tekdi and surrounding localities
Reason: DTR charging work.
Why Is The Power Supply Being Interrupted?
According to the scheduled maintenance notice, the temporary shutdowns are being carried out to facilitate:
- Conductor stringing work
- NHAI infrastructure work
- Pole shifting activity
- Electrical system maintenance and upgrades

Authorities have advised residents to:
- Store sufficient water before the outage begins
- Charge mobile phones and electronic devices in advance
