Power Cut in Bengaluru on 10 January

On January 10, BESCOM stated that the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) will carry out maintenance work. Because of this, power supply will be disrupted for about 5.5 hours, from 10 am to 3:30 pm, in some areas. The places likely to be affected during this time include Ravindra Nagar, Prashanath Nagar, Santosh Nagar, Air Force Jalahalli West, Vaishnavi Nakashtra Apartments, KSRTC Bus Stand, Gati Road, Krishna Fabrications, Gemini Industries, and the Wipro Wellcast Factory area.

Why is the Power Cut Essential?

Moreover, BESCOM informed that maintenance work will also be carried out at the Narasapurra branch of the Bevikam Kolar rural substation on January 10. This work will take place from 10 am to 3 pm. Due to this, power supply may be affected in villages and surrounding areas such as Kuruki, Manjali, Dodda Vallabhi, Kurugal, Perjenahalli, Harjenahalli, Singehally, and Vemagal. These locations fall under different feeders, including Talagunda Ajjaji, Narasapur Industrial, Kurubarahalli Febba, Belamaranahalli, and Felga Kalvamanjali feeders.

3-Day Scheduled Power Shutdown

Apart from the January 10 outages, BESCOM has also started a three-day scheduled power shutdown from January 9 to January 11. The final day of this work is January 11, and the power supply will be interrupted from 11 am to 6 pm. Areas such as Virupasandra, Hullenahalli, Veeranayakanahalli, Badesabarpalya, and nearby locations are expected to be affected.

BESCOM is responsible for electricity distribution in eight districts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Kolar, Tumkur, and Chitradurga, serving a large population across a wide area.
