From Tuesday, December 23, passengers travelling on the Namma Metro's Yellow Line will get slightly better train frequency during peak hours. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that trains on this line will now run every 13 minutes during peak hours from Monday to Saturday. This change

is being made as the sixth train is being added to regular passenger service.
No Change on Sundays
On Sundays, however, there will be no change, and trains will continue to run every 15 minutes during peak hours. BMRCL has also clarified that the first and last train timings from both terminal stations, RV Road and Bommasandra, will remain the same. Therefore, while the waiting time between trains will decrease slightly on weekdays and Saturdays, the daily schedule will remain unchanged.
Spare Train to be Used in an Emergency Case
Out of the total trainsets available, one train will be kept aside as a spare. This spare train will be used only in case of emergencies or technical issues, to ensure smoother operations on the line. The six-coach trainset that is being introduced was received by BMRCL in the last week of November.
Manufacturing of Metro Coaches
These metro coaches were manufactured near Kolkata by Titagarh Rail Systems Limited. The company is producing the trains under a sub-contract with China's CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Company Limited. CRRC is supplying a total of 36 trainsets to BMRCL for Rs 1,578 crore.
Bengaluru Yellow Line Metro Corridor
The Yellow Line metro corridor, which runs for 19.15 km between RV Road and Bommasandra, was opened on August 11. Since its launch, daily metro ridership has crossed one million passengers. However, many commuters have been unhappy with the low frequency of trains and the late start time on this line. The introduction of the sixth train and reduced waiting time is expected to offer some relief to regular passengers.
