The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted Bengaluru of potential rain and thunderstorms, issuing a yellow alert for the city for both Thursday and Friday. This forecast suggests an increased likelihood of inclement weather in the region, with the city expected to see partly cloudy skies and some light rain showers. On Thursday, temperatures are anticipated to fluctuate between a high of 34 degrees Celsius and a low of 23 degrees Celsius.

As the week progresses, the weather in Bengaluru is expected to remain partly cloudy, with the city experiencing a range of temperatures. Specifically, the maximum temperature is projected to reach 33 degrees Celsius, barring today, which might witness slightly warmer conditions with a peak of 34 degrees Celsius. In contrast, the minimum temperatures throughout the week are forecasted to stabilize at 21 degrees Celsius.
The upcoming days hold the possibility of cloudy skies with normal weather conditions, particularly tomorrow, where the temperature is predicted to oscillate between 33 and 21 degrees Celsius. IMD forecasts hint at the likelihood of rain on May 12, bringing a cool and breezy atmosphere to the region. This prediction aligns with the broader weather pattern expected over the week, emphasizing mild and partly cloudy conditions.
Following the immediate forecast, Bengaluru is set to witness a mix of partly cloudy skies paired with the potential for thunder and lightning on May 10 and May 11. This weather pattern indicates a continuation of the unsettled conditions impacting the area. Moreover, regions across North Interior Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka are bracing for thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls until May 10, as per the latest reports from IMD.
The cause of this weather disruption is attributed to a cyclonic circulation in the Bay of Bengal that is gradually moving towards Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. This system is forecasted to bring widespread rainfall across various districts, including Bengaluru, Kolar, Ramanagara, and several others, significantly affecting the weather conditions in these areas.
Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre shared a tweet highlighting weather forecasts and warnings for the next seven days, emphasizing thunder, lightning, and scattered rain showers until May 10. From May 11, coastal regions, the Western Ghats, and southern inland areas are expected to receive regular rainfall, reflecting the dynamic and evolving weather patterns over the state.
Bengaluru and its surrounding regions are gearing up for a week characterized by partly cloudy skies, fluctuating temperatures, and the likelihood of rain and thunderstorms. As the cyclonic circulation moves closer, widespread rainfall is expected, impacting a wide swathe of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Residents and visitors in the affected areas are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
