Commuters in Bengaluru are facing serious traffic delays due to metro construction work near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Sarjapur Road junction. The Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is also repairing a nearby flyover, making the situation worse. The traffic congestion has become a major problem, especially for schoolchildren traveling from Sarjapur to Koramangala, with some students reaching school two hours late.
Traffic police have issued an advisory, warning that the traffic disruptions will last for another 45 days. According to the Bengaluru Traffic Police, while the flyover connecting Silk Board to Ibblur will remain open, the opposite direction will be closed. This partial closure is expected to worsen the congestion on ORR. To manage the situation, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, South Division), Shivaprakash Devaraj, IPS, has urged commuters to adjust their travel plans and cooperate during this period.
As the traffic problem continues, many people have suggested that companies along ORR should allow employees to work from home (WFH) temporarily. Social media users have been actively discussing the issue, with one person stating, "Companies along ORR should encourage WFH to reduce the burden of traffic." Many believe that this step could help reduce congestion and make commuting easier for those who have no choice but to travel.
