The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced significant traffic changes for the Sri Krishna Janmashtami festival on August 25 and 26. With a large number of devotees expected to visit the ISKCON temple, heavy traffic congestion is anticipated. To manage this, several traffic diversions and restrictions will be in place to ensure smooth flow.
For those travelling west on Chord Road from Soap Factory Junction towards Mahalakshmi Metro Junction, a diversion via Dr. Rajkumar Road is recommended. Continue on Dr. Rajkumar Road until 10th Cross Rajkumar Road, then turn right at either 10th Cross or Kethamaranahalli Junction to return to Chord Road at the 1st Block Signal in Rajajinagara.
Bengaluru Krishna Janmashtami Traffic Advisory: Diversions and Restrictions
On West Chord Road, extending from Soap Factory Junction through Mahalakshmi Metro Junction, taxi and auto services for pick-up and drop-off will face restrictions. However, the section between Mahalakshmi Metro Station and Soap Factory Junction remains open for public use without any limitations.
The traffic police urge citizens to cooperate with these arrangements to ensure a safe festival experience. The advisory aims to facilitate smooth movement and reduce inconvenience during the festivities.
Sundays often see increased traffic congestion in Bengaluru, which worsens on weekdays due to the influx of new vehicles. From April 2023 to March 2024, Bengaluru recorded a significant rise in vehicle registrations. A total of 6.37 lakh new private cars and two-wheelers were registered, up from 4.37 lakh the previous year.
