Residents of Bengaluru should get ready for scheduled power cuts over the next few days. Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd. (BESCOM) has announced that some areas in the city will face power outages from May 29 to May 31 due to important maintenance and upgrade work. These outages are part of BESCOM's plan to improve the city's electricity system.

Why the Power Will Be Cut
BESCOM is installing underground power cables in certain parts of the city. Because of this, power supply will be stopped in some areas for a few hours each day. These upgrades aim to give better and more reliable electricity in the future.
Areas and Dates Affected
On May 29, power will be cut from 10 am to 6 pm in Hosakote. On the same day, areas such as Gangamma Gudi Road, Kanakanagar, and behind Hoskote Power Station will also face power cuts.
On May 29 and 30, road widening work on Kempapura Road and Shiva Circle in Vijayapura will lead to power outages from 10 am to 5 pm in areas including Yelavalli, Mittanahalli, Vijayapura town, and nearby places.
On May 30, power will be disrupted in the Hindu Cemetery Area, Kannur Halli Road**, and Somasunder Layout.
On May 31, the Telephone Exchange, Court Area, and Ayyappaswamy Temple Area will have no power during the scheduled hours.
Past Power Cuts in the City
Bengaluru has seen similar power cuts earlier this month. BESCOM had carried out maintenance work that caused outages on May 15, May 18, and May 19. These regular shutdowns help improve electricity supply in the long run.
Advice for Residents
People living in the affected areas are advised to charge mobile phones, laptops, and other important devices ahead of time. If you work from home or run a business, plan your activities around the outage hours. Also, it is safer to avoid using lifts during the power cut periods.
How to Report Unscheduled Power Cuts
If your area experiences power cuts that were not announced, you can report them easily. Use the BESCOM Mithra mobile app (available on both Android and iOS), or call the BESCOM helpline at 1912. Keep your meter RR number or account ID ready when you contact them.
Bengaluru will have a few days of power cuts as BESCOM continues its work to improve the city's electricity system. By staying informed, being prepared, and knowing how to report problems, residents can manage these power cuts with less trouble.
