Bengaluru to Experience Chilly 10-12°C as Cold Wave from North India Strikes

Bengaluru is preparing for a chilly turn in the weather as a cold wave from North India pushes temperatures down to an expected 10-12°C in the coming days. This significant drop marks one of the city's coldest winters in recent years. Residents are already experiencing cooler weather with increased dew, and the trend is set to continue as the weather department forecasts further drops in temperature.

Bengaluru to Experience Chilly Cold

Colder Winter Ahead

This winter in Bengaluru is shaping up to be colder than last year. The weather department predicts a sharp dip in the minimum temperature next week. One contributing factor to the intensified chill is the filling of local lakes, rivers, and dams due to higher rainfall levels this year. These water bodies are cooling the surrounding air, adding to the city's wintry feel.

Health Precautions for Residents

As temperatures drop, there has been a noticeable increase in cold-related illnesses across the city. Dr. Sunil Kumar advises residents to focus on eating hot meals instead of cold ones to prevent symptoms like cough and cold. Special care is recommended for children and elderly individuals, who are more vulnerable to the effects of the cold weather.

Temperature and Air Quality Forecast

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru will experience maximum temperatures between 27°C and 29°C, while minimum temperatures will range from 15°C to 18°C from Tuesday to Friday. Alongside the drop in temperatures, the city's Air Quality Index (AQI) has been recorded at 158, falling into the moderate category.

The IMD has issued a caution for sensitive groups, such as children and people with respiratory conditions like asthma. Limiting outdoor activities is recommended to reduce exposure to the moderate air pollution levels, which could pose health risks.

Preparing for the Cold

As Bengaluru gears up for colder days ahead, residents are advised to dress warmly, especially during mornings and evenings when temperatures are at their lowest. Maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and taking care of vulnerable family members are crucial steps to navigating the cold spell.

With temperatures dipping and the air quality fluctuating, Bengaluru is set for a winter unlike previous years. The city's weather and health experts remind everyone to stay informed, stay warm, and take precautions to ensure a safe and healthy season.
