Bengaluru Sees Rain, Strong Winds: IMD Predicts Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms on Weekend

Bengaluru is set to experience a mix of light to moderate rainfall over the weekend, bringing relief from the summer heat. While some parts of the city have already received scattered showers, others remain dry. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, predicting thunderstorms and strong winds across Karnataka until April 6.

Bengaluru Sees Rain Strong Winds

Rainfall in Different Areas

Many parts of Bengaluru have already received light rainfall, including Yeshwanthpur, Rajajinagar, Goraguntepalya, Jalahalli Cross, Peenya Industrial Area, and Mahalakshmi Layout. However, other areas have remained dry.

The IMD has also warned of heavy rains in other districts, including Mysuru, Shivamogga, Hassan, Kodagu, and coastal Karnataka. The rainfall is expected to be accompanied by strong winds of 40-50 km/h and, in some places, even hailstorms.

Weather Forecast for the Weekend

Bengaluru will likely see rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. Here is the weather forecast:

- Friday, April 4: Partly cloudy skies with scattered showers in some areas.
- Saturday, April 5: Moderate rainfall and thunderstorms expected in the evening.
- Sunday, April 6: Heavy rain likely in parts of Bengaluru, providing relief from the rising temperatures.
- Temperature range: The minimum temperature will be around 22°C, while the maximum temperature may reach 28°C. Humidity levels are expected to be around 54%.

More Rain in April and May

After a dry March, the IMD has predicted above-normal pre-monsoon rainfall in April and May. This could help reduce the summer heat and improve water availability in the region.

With strong winds and heavy rains expected, residents should take the following precautions:

- Carry an umbrella or raincoat when stepping out.
- Avoid open spaces and weak structures during thunderstorms.
- Be cautious of falling branches and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

As Bengaluru prepares for a rainy weekend, the showers are expected to bring much-needed relief from the heat while also improving water levels in the city. Residents should stay updated on weather alerts and be prepared for changing conditions.
