Bengaluru is experiencing unusually high temperatures this March, with the city recording its hottest day of the year at 35 degrees Celsius. The temperature is expected to stay high in the coming days, making the weather dry and warm. This sudden rise in heat is a major shift from the usual climate, as Bengaluru generally experiences a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius in March.

Rising Heat and Weather Conditions
According to CS Patil, a scientist and director at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bengaluru, the increase in temperature is due to dry air and clear skies. He explained that Bengaluru had recorded a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius earlier, but now the temperature has crossed 35 degrees Celsius. He also mentioned that the temperature is expected to remain above 35 degrees Celsius for the next three to four days.
Currently, Bengaluru's weather remains mostly dry, with no cloud cover to provide relief from the heat. The lack of clouds allows the sun's heat to reach the ground directly, making the city feel even hotter.
Temperature Trends for the Coming Days
The IMD has provided a detailed forecast for the next few days. On March 15, Bengaluru recorded a temperature range between 19 degrees Celsius at night and 35 degrees Celsius during the day, with partly cloudy skies. In the following days, the heat is expected to remain high, although there may be a slight drop in temperatures.
- The daytime temperature will stay between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius.
- Nighttime temperatures will be around 19 degrees Celsius.
- The sky will be partly cloudy on most days, with clear skies expected on March 20.
Citywide Heatwave Impact
Different parts of Bengaluru have been affected by the rising heat, with temperatures recorded at key locations:
- The city center recorded 35.4 degrees Celsius.
- HAL Airport registered 35.6 degrees Celsius.
- Kempegowda International Airport recorded 35.5 degrees Celsius.
These figures show that the heatwave is affecting the entire city, including the airport areas.
Bengaluru is famous for its pleasant weather, but the recent heatwave has surprised many residents. The unusually warm March temperatures have raised concerns about changing weather patterns. While the heat is expected to continue, people are advised to take precautions, such as staying hydrated and avoiding direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.
As the city adjusts to this warmer-than-usual climate, discussions on how to prepare for future temperature rises have become more important. With the coming days set to remain hot, Bengaluru residents must brace themselves for continued warm weather.
