Bengaluru Rain Update: IMD Forecasts More Rain Amid Ongoing Flooding Concerns

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast more rain for Bengaluru on Friday, October 25, expecting cloudy skies and light rain. The city's minimum temperature is likely to be around 21 degrees Celsius. Known as India's IT hub, Bengaluru has been dealing with flood-like situations caused by recent heavy rains. The rain has impacted many neighborhoods, leaving roads and homes waterlogged, especially in the northern part of the city.

Bengaluru IMD Forecasts More Rain

On Tuesday night, a strong thunderstorm led to significant flooding, especially in Bengaluru North. While the water levels have lowered in most places, some streets still have stagnant water. According to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), over 1,000 houses in 28 residential areas of the Yelahanka zone were flooded on Monday night. This has caused challenges for many residents who have been trying to get their lives back to normal.

Weather Forecast and Ongoing Flooding Impact

The IMD predicts more rain in Bengaluru for the next two days, with light to moderate rainfall expected in certain parts of Karnataka throughout the week. Although water has drained or been pumped out in most areas, some places, like Kendriya Vihar Apartments in Yelahanka, still have standing water, creating health and sanitation concerns for residents.

In addition to flooding issues, Bengaluru also faced a tragic incident earlier in the week. On Tuesday, an under-construction building collapsed in the Horamavu Agara area, taking the lives of eight people. Rescue and restoration efforts started on Thursday, with fire department teams using heavy equipment to clear debris from the site.

Response to the Building Collapse

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his sympathies for those affected by the building collapse, posting a message from the Prime Minister's Office on X: "Anguished by the loss of lives due to the collapse of a building in Bengaluru. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured recover soon." An ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh has been announced for the next of kin of the deceased, while those injured will receive Rs 50,000.

Hopes for Improvement

The recent heavy rains and tragic building collapse have added to the challenges Bengaluru residents face. Authorities are working to provide relief, clear waterlogged areas, and manage recovery efforts. As these efforts continue, the people of Bengaluru remain hopeful for better weather and relief from these difficult conditions soon.
