The eagerly anticipated Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Namma Metro, set to connect the bustling tech hub of Electronic City, is on the brink of commencing operations. "We have received two trains and are currently undergoing regulatory approvals, including oscillation trials and signalling tests." This statement underscores the meticulous preparations underway to ensure the Yellow Line's smooth operation. Following the completion of these tests, the next step involves securing approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS), anticipated by the end of April.
Final Preparations and Train Delivery
In addition to these developments, the BMRCL team is set to receive a third train by the end of April, indicating significant progress towards the project's completion. The official shared optimistic views on the timeline, mentioning, "If the outfitting is completed as planned, we will have three trains ready, and subject to regulatory approvals, commercial operations could commence by June-end or July for the 19.15 km Yellow Line stretch from RV Road to Bommasandra."
The Yellow Line trains are being manufactured by China's CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co, Ltd, under a substantial contract worth Rs 1,578 crore signed in 2019. The agreement entails the production of the prototype trains in China, while the subsequent units are being assembled at the Teetagarh Rail Systems Limited in West Bengal. Overall, BMRCL will receive 36 trains comprising 216 coaches, with 15 of these trains designated for the Yellow Line, and the remainder allocated across the Green and Purple Lines.
The introduction of the Yellow Line, spanning from RV Road to Bommasandra and passing through major areas like Electronic City, Bommanahalli, Koramangala, and Hosur Road, represents a significant enhancement in Bengaluru's public transportation network.
