Bengaluru's much-awaited Metro Yellow Line, connecting RV Road to Bommasandra, promises to transform commuting for thousands of IT professionals working in major hubs like Infosys Electronics City. This new metro line aims to provide faster, more convenient travel, making daily commutes more efficient.

However, the eagerly anticipated launch has been delayed due to setbacks in train deliveries. Originally planned to open in December 2021, the project now expects operations to begin by January 2025, though this timeline is still uncertain.
Infosys Metro Plaza:
One of the standout features of this project is the Metro Plaza at Konappa Agrahara Metro Station, located next to the Infosys Electronics City Campus. This plaza, funded by the Infosys Foundation with a generous ₹115 crore grant, offers a direct connection between the Infosys campus and the metro station. Employees can now save time with seamless access, ensuring convenience and security. Out of the total grant, ₹100 crore was allocated for constructing the metro station, while ₹15 crore was used for advanced safety features on the platform. This initiative reflects Infosys's commitment to improving the commuting experience for its workforce.
The Metro Yellow Line is expected to revolutionize travel for over 15,000 Infosys employees in Electronic City and thousands of other daily commuters. Estimates suggest the metro line will serve 2 lakh passengers daily, with around 20,000 people using the Konappa Agrahara Metro Station alone. By easing traffic congestion and cutting travel times, the new metro line will make commuting less stressful and more efficient.
This project showcases the collaborative efforts between public authorities and private corporations like Infosys. While delays have caused some frustration, the combined efforts highlight a shared vision to improve urban mobility and provide better transportation options for city dwellers.
The Metro Yellow Line holds great promise for Bengaluru's urban transport system, especially for IT professionals traveling to key employment hubs. Despite the delays, the project symbolizes progress and a commitment to building a commuter-friendly city.
The contributions from Infosys Foundation, including the Metro Plaza and enhanced safety features, underline the importance of partnerships in creating a secure and efficient transport ecosystem. Once operational, the Yellow Line is set to make daily travel smoother and more convenient for Bengaluru's growing population.
