With the upcoming UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination on May 24, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has decided to start Namma Metro services one hour earlier than usual on Sunday. The special arrangement has been made to help UPSC candidates and other passengers travel easily to different examination centres across Bengaluru.

Bengaluru Metro Services on 24 May
According to a statement released by BMRCL, metro train services will begin at 6 a.m. instead of the regular 7 a.m. from all terminal stations in the city. This change will apply to all major metro lines and routes. On the Purple Line, trains will start early from Whitefield (Kadugodi) and Challaghatta stations. On the Green Line, services will begin from Madavara and Silk Institute stations. Similarly, trains on the Yellow Line will start from R.V. Road and Bommasandra stations from 6 a.m.
Why is the Step Taken?
BMRCL said the decision was taken because a large number of UPSC aspirants are expected to travel across Bengaluru on the exam day. Starting services earlier will help candidates reach their exam centres on time without facing unnecessary travel stress or delays. The metro authority also expects regular commuters to benefit from the revised schedule.
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is one of the most important competitive exams in the country and attracts thousands of candidates every year. Since many exam centres are located in Bengaluru's several areas, public transport services are expected to witness heavy traffic on the day of the examination.
Advisory for Candidates
BMRCL aims to provide smoother transportation and reduce congestion on roads during the morning hours by advancing the metro timings, which is applicable only for 24. Candidates have been advised to plan their journey and make use of the early metro services for convenient travel.
