Passengers travelling on Bengaluru Metro's Green Line on Friday, August 7, night may experience longer waiting times as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will temporarily reduce train frequency on a part of the route. This temporary change is being made to conduct joint trials and inspections before new trainsets supplied by CRRC are introduced into service. Moreover, regular services are expected to resume after the trials are completed.
Bengaluru Metro Green Line to Undergo a Temporary Change Today
According to BMRCL, the trials will be carried out with officials from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) on Friday night, as these tests are an important step before the final CMRS inspection, which is required before the new trains can begin carrying passengers.
Due to the trial runs, train services on the up-line from Yeshwantpur to Madavara will operate every 20 minutes instead of the usual 10-minute interval. This temporary change will be in effect from 10.30 pm to 11 pm and will remain in effect until the last revenue service of the day.
However, BMRCL clarified that there will be no changes to the down-line services from Madavara to Silk Institute; trains will continue to run according to the regular schedule.
Advisory for Bengaluru Metro Commuters
The metro authority has advised commuters travelling on the affected section to plan their journeys and allow extra travel time due to reduced train frequency. They should check the latest updates from BMRCL before starting their journey.
BMRCL also requested passengers to cooperate during the temporary operational changes, which are necessary to ensure the safe introduction of the new trainsets. The new trains are expected to improve metro services on the Green Line once they receive approval from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety.
