The Railway Board has approved the permanent operation of the Bengaluru-Bidar bi-weekly express train service, which was earlier running as a special train. The train, earlier operated as Train Nos. 06539 and 06540 between Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bengaluru and Bidar have now been regularised and given new

numbers:16559 and 16560.
Bengaluru-Bidar Bi-Weekly Express to Start Operations
According to South Western Railway officials, Train No. 16559 SMVT Bengaluru-Bidar Bi-weekly Express will start regular service from May 15. The train will run every Friday and Sunday from Bengaluru. In the return direction, Train No. 16560 Bidar-SMVT Bengaluru Bi-weekly Express will begin service from May 16 and will run every Saturday and Monday.
In the return direction, Train No. 16560 will leave Bidar at 2 pm and arrive at SMVT Bengaluru at 4 am the next day. The train will halt at the same major stations during the return trip, allowing passengers from different towns and cities to travel conveniently between Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and nearby regions.
Major Stoppages
Train No. 16559 will depart from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal, Bengaluru, at 9.15 pm and reach Bidar at 12.15 pm the following day. During the journey, it will stop at several important stations, including Yelahanka, Hindupur, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Yadgir, Shahabad, Kalaburagi, and Humnabad.
Train Features
The train will consist of 20 coaches to meet passenger demand. These include one AC 2-tier coach, two AC 3-tier coaches, 11 sleeper class coaches, and four general second-class coaches. There will also be two luggage-cum-brake vans that are disabled-friendly.
How will this Train Benefit Passengers?
South Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Manjunath Kanamadi said the decision to regularise the service will benefit passengers travelling frequently between Bengaluru and Bidar. The permanent train service is expected to improve connectivity and provide more comfortable travel options for people from north Karnataka and surrounding areas.
