The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is moving closer to opening the Pink Line. Safety trials by the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) concluded on May 12. This milestone focuses on the elevated stretch from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere. Residents in South Bengaluru can now expect smoother travel options very soon.
This specific section covers approximately 7.5 kilometres and includes several key stations. The successful completion of these tests ensures the tracks and trains are safe. It marks a vital step before the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) starts final checks. These developments suggest that a partial launch of the corridor is imminent.

Bengaluru Metro Pink Line Progress and CMRS Inspection
The Pink Line will eventually connect Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara through a long tunnel. For now, the focus remains on the elevated southern part of the route. Officials must submit the test data to the CMRS for its formal approval. Once the certificate is issued, the stretch can open for public use.
| Station Name | Commute Type |
|---|---|
| Kalena Agrahara | Elevated Stretch |
| Hulimavu | Elevated Stretch |
| IIMB | Elevated Stretch |
| JP Nagar 4th Phase | Elevated Stretch |
| Tavarekere | Elevated Stretch |
Residents along Bannerghatta Road currently face heavy traffic congestion almost every day. This new Metro service will provide a fast alternative for thousands of daily travellers. It connects major residential areas to the city growing transit network. Better connectivity will reduce travel time and improve the quality of urban life.
While the southern stretch is ready, work on the underground section continues steadily. Engineers are working hard to complete the tunnels before the next phase of testing. The BMRCL is also working on integrating different lines for better passenger flow. We expect official updates regarding the CMRS inspection schedule in the coming weeks.
The progress on the Pink Line shows a major leap in Bengaluru infrastructure. Passengers should stay alert for possible night test runs affecting existing nearby services. This project remains a priority for the state government to ease city traffic. Successful safety clearances will soon turn these long-awaited Metro dreams into a reality.
