The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, Asia's largest tulip garden in Srinagar, Kashmir, has opened its gates to the public. This year, the department has introduced five new varieties of tulips, adding to the existing 68 varieties. Additionally, the area of the garden has been expanded, with an additional two lakh bulbs planted. In total, a staggering 17 lakh tulip bulbs adorn the garden, along with other spring flowers such as hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and cyclamens, enhancing the diversity of colors and blooms.

History and Growth:
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden was established in 2007 by Ghulam Nabi Azad, the then-chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, to extend the tourist season in the region beyond summers and winters. Initially, the garden started with 50,000 tulip bulbs imported from The Netherlands and has since grown in popularity and size. Last year, it welcomed over 3.65 lakh visitors, showcasing its increasing prominence as a tourist attraction.
