In a significant step towards bolstering religious tourism in Andhra Pradesh, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) in collaboration with the Endowments department, unveiled specialized pilgrim tour packages. This initiative, launched in partnership with the third-party company 'Book My Darshan', aims to facilitate easier and more enriching travel experiences for pilgrims visiting the state’s revered temples.
Launch Ceremony
The launch ceremony, graced by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Endowments, Kottu Satyanarayana, along with representatives from 'Book My Darshan', took place at the Tourism Development Corporation office in Vijayawada. During the event, the Deputy CM expressed his contentment with the tourism development corporation’s efforts in promoting the state’s renowned and historic temples through these specially curated tour packages.
Special Buses and Benefits
Kottu Satyanarayana announced the introduction of special buses aimed at transporting pilgrims to various temples scattered across distinct locations. A total of 12 buses will operate across 19 routes, connecting all major cities to temples of great historical significance. These buses are designed to offer pilgrims additional benefits, including expedited darshan and lodging facilities, thereby enhancing their overall travel experience. The Minister emphasized that this initiative is expected to not only promote temple tourism but also contribute to self-development.
Commitment to Religious Tourism
Officials from the tourism department reiterated their commitment to the promotion of religious tourism. They assured that pilgrims booking tickets through the 'Book My Darshan' portal would be provided with all necessary facilities to ensure a comfortable journey. This move is seen as a strategic effort to cater to the needs of devout travellers seeking spiritual solace in the state’s temples.
Comprehensive Tour Packages
'Book My Darshan' representatives highlighted their collaboration with tourism department-operated hotels across the state, indicating expansive plans to extend their services to all major temples. The packages, which encompass key destinations such as Vijayawada, Vizag, Kurnool, and Tirupati, are meticulously designed to cover all significant temples. Additionally, differentiated fare structures for children and adults, along with travel insurance for pilgrims, underscore the company’s commitment to enhancing travel convenience and safety for devotees and commuters alike.
