GUWAHATI: The much-anticipated Brahmaputra Riverfront viewpoint in Guwahati's Panbazaar is all set to welcome visitors with its grand inauguration scheduled for January 20. This landmark event will be graced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, marking a significant milestone in the city's development. The announcement came from Assam's Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Ashok Singhal, who recently inspected the site at the Old Bungalow premises of the Guwahati Commissioner of Police.

A Glimpse of the Majestic Brahmaputra
During his visit, Minister Singhal was impressed with the project's advancement and took to social media to share the stunning visuals of the riverfront beautification. The images showcased the breathtaking views of the mighty Brahmaputra, giving the public a preview of what to expect from the riverfront viewpoint. Singhal's post, featuring the serene waters and the enhanced surroundings, has elevated the excitement for the upcoming inauguration.

The Brahmaputra Riverfront Project: A Transformative Makeover
Spearheaded by the Guwahati Smart City Development Limited, the Brahmaputra Riverfront Project is on a steadfast path to completion by March this year. Spanning a stretch of 1,200 meters from the old DC Bungalow to Kacharighat, the project promises to transform the face of the riverfront. It boasts a variety of amenities including parks, seating areas, refreshment points, and spaces dedicated to cultural programmes, all designed to enhance the urban appeal and provide leisure facilities to the public.

Strategic Significance and Cultural Importance
The Chief Minister of Assam, on his visit to the site in October 2022, highlighted Guwahati's strategic importance as a pivotal connection between India and Southeast Asia. He emphasized the necessity of such beautification projects to reflect the city’s prominence both nationally and internationally. The riverfront development, situated on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River within Guwahati's central business district, is an essential part of showcasing the city's heritage and future prospects.
With an estimated budget of Rs 370 crore, the Brahmaputra Riverfront Development Project stands as a testament to the commitment towards enhancing Guwahati's urban infrastructure and aesthetics.
