Special Vande Bharat trains will operate between Jammu and Srinagar to help pilgrims. As per the schedule available on the IRCTC Rail Connect app, train number 04687 will leave Banihal at 3:30 PM and reach Srinagar at 7:36 PM. On the return journey, train number 04688 will depart from Srinagar at 7:20 AM.

Amarnath Yatra Special Arrangements

Srinagar Chief Area Manager Kapil Sharma said Indian Railways has made special arrangements to handle the large number of passengers travelling during the summer season and the annual Amarnath Yatra. He said monitoring systems have been set up at both the Railway Board and headquarters levels to ensure smooth operations. Railway officials are closely tracking important services, including water supply, electricity, cleanliness, and train punctuality.

For registered pilgrims, Indian Railways has introduced an Aadhaar-based KYC verification system outside railway stations. This allows devotees who have already registered for the yatra to complete the verification process before entering the station, helping reduce waiting time and making travel more convenient.

Kapil Sharma also said that pilgrims who have not registered in advance can visit Pantha Chowk, where buses are available to take them to centres offering on-the-spot registration. Food facilities have also been arranged on trains for the convenience of passengers.

Security has been strengthened for the pilgrimage. The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Jammu and Kashmir Police are working together to ensure the safety of pilgrims. Senior railway officials, civil authorities, and police officers are regularly inspecting arrangements to ensure everything runs smoothly.

A devotee travelling on the Vande Bharat train appreciated the improved travel experience. The pilgrim said the train offered excellent facilities and that travelling had become much easier than before. The devotee also praised the support provided by ticket inspectors and railway security personnel, saying they maintained discipline and ensured passenger safety throughout the journey.

The 57-day Amarnath Yatra has officially begun and will continue until August 28, which coincides with the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Authorities are using digital surveillance systems and RFID tracking technology to monitor the movement of pilgrims, manage crowds effectively, and maintain safety during the annual pilgrimage.
