Air India Introduces A350-900 On Delhi-New York Flights With Premium Economy

Starting Nov 1, Air India's A350-900 will serve the Delhi-New York route, introducing Premium Economy class and enhanced in-flight entertainment. From Jan 2, 2025, the service extends to Newark, showcasing state-of-the-art amenities and a commitment to superior travel experiences.

Tata group's Air India announced that its A350-900 aircraft will start flying the Delhi-New York JFK route from November 1. Additionally, flights from Delhi to Newark will commence on January 2, 2025. The A350 will introduce the airline's Premium Economy class on these routes for the first time, featuring 24 wide seats in a 2-4-2 configuration with extra legroom.

Enhanced Comfort and Entertainment

All cabins will be equipped with a Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system and HD screens. Passengers can enjoy over 2,200 hours of global entertainment content. The A350 flights will also feature new chinaware, tableware, glassware, bedding, and updated amenity kits designed by Ferragamo and TUMI for Business and Premium Economy cabins.

The aircraft will also include 28 private suites in Business class with full-flat beds arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration. Each suite offers direct aisle access, sliding privacy doors, and a personal wardrobe. Additionally, there will be 264 Economy seats set up in a 3-4-3 configuration.

Commitment to Improvement

"We are encouraged by the positive guest feedback we have received from the domestic deployment of our A350s to offer our hero product on the Delhi-New York JFK and Delhi-Newark routes. This is a significant leap forward for our U.S. operations that also underscores our commitment to continuous improvement," said Campbell Wilson, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Air India.

The airline currently uses its three-class-configured Boeing 777-200LR for all non-stop flights between India (Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru) and San Francisco. These aircraft have upgraded cabin interiors except for a thrice-weekly Delhi-San Francisco service. Similar aircraft are also used on Mumbai-New York JFK and Mumbai-Newark routes.

"The new seats, new inflight entertainment systems, and new soft products will together provide our guests with great comfort and service that are representative of the new Air India. We believe this enhanced offering will solidify Air India's position as a leading carrier and attract travelers seeking a world-class flying experience between India and the United States," added Wilson.

The introduction of Premium Economy class aims to enhance passenger comfort with spacious seating arrangements in a dedicated cabin area. This move is part of Air India's strategy to improve its services continually.

Air India's decision to deploy the A350 on these routes reflects its commitment to providing superior travel experiences for passengers flying between India and the United States.
