According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the railways intend to increase their capacity for issuing tickets from 25,000 to 2.25 lakhs per minute and for answering inquiries from 40,000 to 4 lakh per minute. The minister added that a goal has been set to build additional railroad tracks over a distance of 7,000 km in the fiscal year 2023-2024 during a press conference held here.
The back-end infrastructure of the 'Passenger Reservation System' will be improved in terms of website speed, software, etc and, there will be a tremendous advantage of improving this back-end infrastructure.
Approximately 25,000 tickets can now be sold each minute at the current rate of ticketing and the set goal is to increase the capacity to 2,25,000 lakhs per minute, he stated. According to Vaishnaw, the capacity for answering inquiries will also be increased from 40,000 per min to 4 lakhs per minute.

The minister stated that the 4,500-kilometre goal, which is 12 km per day for installing railway tracks between 2022 and 2023 has already been met. He continued, this used to be 4 kilometers per day before 2014. The goal for next year railroads has been set to install 7,000 kilometres of new railway tracks. There will be new lines, doubling, and gauge conversion on these rails.
Vaishnaw also stated that the railways will create Vande Metro, a mini version of Vande Bharat Express Trains, with the maximum capital outlay for the railway system in the Union Budget 2023-24 at $2.40 lakh crore, to allow people who live near large cities to commute in comfort between their homes and places of employment.

He also informed that "Jan Suvidha" convenience stores, which will be open 24/7, will be built at 2,000 different railway stations across the nation. After deboarding, he remarked, The convenience stores will have all stocks of everyday usage things, which the travellers may pick on their way home.
