Desert National Park, Jaisalmer

Desert National Park, established in the year 1980, represents the ecosystem of the Thar Desert. This national park spreads over an area of 3161 sq km. The land of the park comprises salt lake bottoms, fixed dunes and rocks. Tourists can see birds like harriers, buzzards, spotted eagles, short-toed eagles, tawny eagles, vultures, kestrel, lager falcons and sand grouse.

This national park is a natural habitat of the endangered bird species called the great Indian bustard, which is the state bird of the Rajasthan. The Rajbagh Lake, Milak Lake and the Padam Talao Lake are the prominent waterbodies located inside the park. The best season to visit this park is in the period between the months of November and January.
