The Steel City of Bokaro

The district of Bokaro located in the Chotanagpur Plateau is famous for its steel plants. This city comprises of streams and valley but it is the heavy industries here that are renowned. Tourists coming here can roam the city and see many of its attraction. Those looking for a quieter option can move toward the outskirts of the city and enjoy the fresh air and the scenic view of the region.

There are many places to visit in Bokaro of which the Steel Plant, the Biological Park, Ram Mandir and the Ashram is a must in every travellers itinery for the city.

Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park

One of the places to visit in Bokaro is the Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park, which was established in the year 1989. It is the biggest zoological park in Jharkhand and is known to house some endangered species like Asiatic Lions, White Tigers and the Royal Bengal Tigers. Wildlife enthusiasts come here to see these big cats and learn more about them. Tourists coming here can also enjoy a toy train ride here through the park. It is a best place to head to with your family.

Bokaro Steel Plant

A major tourist place in Bokaro is its famous Steel Plant, which is also India's first 'Swadeshi Movement' industry. This steel plant is known to produce many products like hot rolled coils, hot rolled plates, hot rolled sheets, cold roll coils, cold roll sheets and many more. Tourists coming here can tour the plant and see how these items are forged. There is also a small mueseum here which contains pictures and items related to this place.

Ram Mandir

Another place to visit in Bokaro is the Ram Mandir dedicated to Lord Rama, and known for conducting marriages for the poor people at a nominal price. The unique feature about this temple is that it includes smaller shrines for Lord Krishna, Hanuman, Lord Venkateshwara, Goddess Kali and more within its premises. Devotees come here to pay respect to the Gods and offer their gratitude. Tourists coming here can marvel at the beauty of the architecture of this place.

Pupunki Ashram

Another tourist place in Bokaro is the Pupunki Ashram that is located near the Damodar river. This ancient ashram is known to be the house of the gurus who imaprted knowledge to their disciples. Tourists visiting here can explore the dilapitated ashrams of the gurus here. It is also an ideal place to go for a picnic with your family.

How to Reach Bokaro

By Air: Ranchi Airport (105 km) is the nearest airport to Bokaro. It is well-conneceted to all the major cities in the country.

By Train: Bokaro is well-connected to all the major cities and towns by its railways.

By Road: The city of Bokaro has great bus connectivity, majorly through government run buses. You can also hire cars to travel around the town.
