Music And Traveling: Our Tribute On World Music Day 2018

Three years ago, I remember cozying up on my couch in the middle of the night, flipping through the pages of a magazine while listening to music. One after the other, the songs continued to shuffle through my music library until it found its way to Eddie Vedder's "Society". Not that I was hearing it for the first time, but as the song continued to play, the words "Society, you're a crazy breed; I hope you're not lonely without me" struck me so hard that I instantly thought to myself, "I'm soon buying a one-way ticket to somewhere far, far away from society itself."

Exactly two months later, I was hiking through the desolate, mountainous, forest trail of Kheerganga on another starlit night. I'd walked past the last inhabited village of the region long back, mobile connectivity had already left the side-all I had was the rugged, slushy soil under my feet and the entire Milky Way above my head.

I was trekking in an unidentified corner of the world where nature had not been rearranged by the hands of man; all because of a song I'd heard on one regular night.

Music has always been that one powerful tool that can heavily influence one's thoughts, moods and behaviors. We share deep emotional connections with the music that appeals to us. It has the ability to make us happy or sad, motivate us to exercise or work harder, relax and calm us. I doubt if there's anything else in the world that has this power.

And as far as travelling is concerned, its connection with music is something unbreakable. With the right album playing, you're instantly on a beach in the Andamans, on a road trip in a car across Ladakh or at a bar in the French town of Pondicherry. It doesn't matter whether you've actually been to those places or not. That's the great thing about music.

We, at NativePlanet, understand how closely music and your urge to travel are bonded. That's why, on the occasion of World Music Day, we've decided to take your love for travelling and music to the next level. We've listed out the most dynamic and not-so-clichéd music festivals held in thrilling locales all across India, along with everything you need to know to attend those. And, that's not it. We're also unveiling our very own and curated travel playlist that will inspire you for your next big trip.
