After Gir National Park in Gujarat, West Bengal is all set for its first lion safari project in Siliguri. The jungle area set up adjacent to Siliguri's North Bengal Wild Animals Park, where 11 majestic tigers were introduced in 2016, is now gearing up to launch its first-ever lion safari.

The state's Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallick said a plan has been prepared to run a 20-seater minibus. Also, many gypsy and canters will be available to take tourists across the forest. With the start of this project, new dimensions of tourism will be launched in North Bengal. As well as nature photographers will get a reinvigorated destination.

As of now, the wild park has around 11 tigers. The officer furthermore added that they are also pushing to encourage tiger conservation centres and breeding inside the park. And ready to push this idea in the coming conference to the CZA soon.

The West Bengal forest department is also toiling to reintroduce tigers at Alipurduar district in north Bengal in the Buxa Tiger Reserve and one-horn rhino in the neighbouring Cooch Behar district at Patlakhawa.
