New Ahmedabad to Rajkot Semi-High-Speed Train Coming; Check All the Routes, Speed

The Gujarat state government, in collaboration with the railways, has unveiled a groundbreaking semi-high-speed train project connecting Ahmedabad and Rajkot. Covering a distance of 227 kilometers, this initiative aims to significantly reduce travel times between these major cities. With speeds ranging from 160 to 200 kilometers per hour, the train will depart from the Sabarmati Multi-Modal Hub, offering a modern and efficient travel experience.

Project Details and Investment

The project, estimated to cost Rs 38 thousand crores, showcases the state's commitment to improving rail infrastructure. The Gujarat Rail Infrastructure Company has already submitted a detailed project report to the Railway Board for approval. This semi-high-speed train is set to become a vital link between Ahmedabad and Rajkot, providing faster, more efficient connectivity.

Faster Travel and Convenience

Currently, traveling by road from Ahmedabad to Rajkot takes up to four and a half hours by bus or slightly less by car. This new train service is expected to cut the journey time by more than half. Trains will run frequently, with departures every 15 to 20 minutes from the Sabarmati Multi-Modal Hub, offering convenience and flexibility to commuters.

The Sabarmati Multi-Modal Hub will serve as a central point for various rail services, including bullet trains, metro trains, and regular rail services. This hub will not only enhance accessibility but also transform Gujarat's transportation network.

Planned Route and Infrastructure

The semi-high-speed train will pass through key locations such as Bavla, Bagodara, and Limbdi before reaching Rajkot. The route will feature an elevated corridor along the Ahmedabad-Rajkot highway, with strategically placed stations at Bavla-Bagodara and Limbdi to serve passengers along the way.

In addition, plans are underway to extend the train service to Dholera, a fast-developing hub for national and international companies. A detailed project report for the Bagodara-Dholera route will soon be submitted to the Railway Board. Once approved, the extension will allow people to travel from Dholera to Ahmedabad in just 40 to 50 minutes, boosting connectivity and economic growth.

The semi-high-speed train project will also complement the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train connection. This link will enable passengers to travel from Mumbai to Rajkot in just three and a half to four hours, a significant reduction in travel time.

The Ahmedabad-Rajkot semi-high-speed train is a transformative project for Gujarat. By cutting travel times, enhancing connectivity, and planning for future expansions, it promises to benefit commuters, businesses, and the state's economy. This initiative marks a significant milestone in modernizing transportation and infrastructure in the region.
