The weather in Uttarakhand changed on Friday morning, bringing much-needed relief to people who had been suffering from intense heat and humidity. Light rain started falling in Dehradun and nearby areas, offering a welcome break to residents. This pleasant shift in weather has eased the discomfort felt in places like Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar in recent days.

Cooler Days Ahead
According to meteorologist Rohit Abhiyan, the current weather change is likely to continue until 16 June. The meteorological department had earlier predicted that light rainfall would begin across the state from 13 June, and that is now happening. Most parts of Uttarakhand, including the hill regions of Kumaon and Garhwal, are expected to receive rainfall in the coming days. This also signals the start of pre-monsoon showers, as the monsoon slowly moves into the region.
Rain Forecast for Different Regions
Meteorologist Rohit Thapliyal explained that heavy rain and strong winds may occur in some parts of Kumaon, including Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, and Champawat districts. In Garhwal, areas like Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Tehri may also experience similar conditions. Even the plains, including Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar, will see changes in the weather due to the rain.
Why These Showers Matter
These pre-monsoon showers are not only helpful in reducing temperatures but are also very important for the state. They replenish water bodies, help in cooling down the land, and are essential for agriculture. Many farmers in the region are waiting for these rains so they can begin or continue their farming activities, which depend on timely rainfall.
A Time to Stay Alert
As the weather becomes wetter, residents should remain cautious. It is a good time to check weather updates regularly and be prepared for sudden heavy rainfall or strong winds. Proper planning can help avoid any problems, especially in areas that are prone to landslides or waterlogging during the rainy season.
For now, people across Uttarakhand are enjoying the cooler weather and fresh air. After days of sweating through high temperatures, the sound of raindrops and cloudy skies are a welcome sight. The rains not only bring comfort but also hope for a good monsoon season ahead.
