The Railway Ministry has officially renamed the Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro to Namo Bharat Rapid Rail. This new service will connect Ahmedabad and Bhuj, covering a distance of 359 kilometers in just 5 hours and 45 minutes. Public service is set to begin on September 17, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable way to travel between these two cities.
Features of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is designed to connect central Ahmedabad with surrounding cities, making it different from regular metro services, which typically cover shorter distances. The train has 12 coaches and can seat up to 1,150 passengers. It is fully air-conditioned and features ergonomic seating to ensure comfort during the journey. The modular interiors and enhanced design provide a superior experience compared to other metro services.
Speed and Safety
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail travels at a top speed of 130 km/h, covering the 359 kilometers between Ahmedabad and Bhuj efficiently. It stops at nine stations along the way: Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Samakhiali, Halvad, Dhrangadhra, Viramgam, Chandlodiya, and Sabarmati. The train includes advanced safety systems like KAVACH, which helps avoid collisions, along with fire detection and aerosol-based fire suppression systems. Emergency lights are also installed to ensure safety.
Schedule and Frequency
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will operate six days a week. It departs from Bhuj at 5:05 AM and arrives in Ahmedabad at 10:50 AM. The return journey starts from Ahmedabad at 5:30 PM, reaching Bhuj at 11:10 PM. Train number 94802 will not run on Sundays, and train number 94801 will not run on Saturdays.
Fare Structure
The minimum fare for the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is Rs 30. The journey between Bhuj and Ahmedabad will cost Rs 455. Weekly, fortnightly, and monthly season tickets are available, with pricing based on the number of single journeys. The fares will be rounded off to the nearest multiple of Rs 5, and regular child fare rules will apply.
