Tillanchong, Great Nicobar

Home » Destinations » Great Nicobar » Attractions » Tillanchong

Home to the Narcondam Hornbill and the Nicobar Megapod, two extremely rare birds and certainly in the exotic segment, the Tillanchon Island is a tiny, sparsely populated place with loads of tropical tourist value to offer. Unlike the rest of the Andaman and Nicobar islands, Tillanchong is wholly owned and administered by three Nicobarese families who visit the island once a year as a matter of tradition. Spread over just 17 square kilometers this island boasts of lush greenery and nature at its best. It was destroyed to quite an extend, and the above mentioned bird populations took quite a hit which is why a sanctuary to aid their recovery is currently operational here.
