Tillanchong, Great Nicobar

Home to the Narcondam hornbill and the Nicobar megapode, two extremely rare birds and certainly in the exotic segment, the Tillanchong Island is a tiny, sparsely populated place with loads of tropical tourist value to offer. Unlike the rest of the Nicobar">Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Tillanchong is wholly owned and administered by three Nicobarese families, who visit the island once a year as a matter of tradition. Spread over just 17 square kilometres, this island boasts of lush greenery and nature at its best. It was destroyed to quite an extent and the above mentioned bird populations took quite a hit, which is why a sanctuary to aid their recovery is currently operational here.
