Dzongu Attractions - Tourist Places To Visit In Dzongu

Dzongu is famous for its cardamom fields. And with Dzongu in Sikkim being quite an unexplored area, the place appears extremely beautiful, covered with dense fields of rice and cardamom plantations.

The weather conditions are perfectly suited for cardamom cultivation and the beauty of their cultivation lies in the fact that they are grown sans the usage of any modern pesticide or fertilizer. So when in Dzongu, make sure you stroll through the lovely fields of cardamom.

The Tholung Monastery is present in the remotest part of Dzongu. It is an ancient religious place of worship. One in every three years, the Tholung monastery of Tholung Gompa conducts an event called Kamsel where it puts on display the treasures in the gompa.

The ritual is conducted for airing and sunning the collections. Also present here is a cane bridge, crossing which can be an excellent experience.

Hee Gyathang is a village in the Lower Dzongu area. It is a part of the Mangan subdivision in North Sikkim district. Present here is a small lake which is considered sacred and worshiped by the Lepcha community people.

The Traditional Lepcha House Museum is a model of a Lepcha house constructed in its traditional style. The building has a museum within and lies at the confluence of river Teesta and Rongyung Chu. Also, the surrounding environ of the museum is a perfect spot to watch vibrant butterflies.

Pentong is a village close to Dzongu and is present in the Mangan subdivision of North Sikkim. Travellers can pay a visit to this place to enjoy the close view of the splendid snow clad mountains in its surroundings. The place is reachable by trekking.

Present in the surroundings of Dzongu are an array of waterfalls, each one better than the other. Among these, the Lingzya waterfall is the most scenic. One can visit this waterfall, take a bath, relax and leisurely spend a few hours.

Keushong in Dzongu is probably the most beautiful place in the entire area. Situated close by, it is an extremely scenic spot. The place is surrounded by lovely beautiful hills and also includes a clean and alluring lake. And when you travel to this place during the right season, the valley will be attractively blanketed with beautiful flowers.

It is advisable that the visitors plan a couple of days stay at Keushong for a peaceful experience.

Hiking at Dzongu can be an extremely wonderful experience. Reason: the place remains quite untouched and the hikers can come across various unexplored streams and forests. Small and long hikes can both be planned at this tranquil town.

Love angling? Then try it here at Dzongu. It may not seem as easy as it does at places elsewhere which are popular for angling but when patiently done, it indeed makes up for a beautiful experience. Mahseer and Trout can be commonly found in the rivers here.

While at Dzongu, pay a visit to Lingthem – a place that you need to hike up to from the Passingdang village. The trek is short but will be a wonderful experience. Upon reaching here, one can enjoy galvanic views of the Dzongu valley and Mount Kanchenjunga.
