The Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, located at a distance of 1 km from McLeodganj, is a distinguished tourist attraction. It showcases a wide variety of musical, dance and theatrical traditions of Tibet. In addition to this, the institution has its own workshops for the making of costumes, masks and musical instruments.
A modern theatre troupe of this institute performs modern dramas. An annual 10-day folk opera, which starts on the second Saturday of April, is also organised here. Various folk operas, dance performances, plays and concerts are presented here during this occasion. A Buddha temple located in the vicinity is also an attraction worth visiting.
