Fishing, Corbett National Park

Fishing is a popular activity among tourists visiting the Corbett National Park. The rivers Kosi and Ramganga are the ideal spots to enjoy Mahseer fishing in the park. Besides, special Mahseer fishing tours are organised at the Ramganga River. Visitors can enjoy fly-fishing and spinning in the rivers.

In the national park, fishing is also allowed at various places, like Ramgarh, Pancheshwar and Binsar. However, visitors must take special permission from the forest officials for fishing. Tourists interested in fishing in the park, must bring rucksack, straw hats, sunglasses, keds, waders, antiseptic creams, insect repellents, windcheaters, gloves and suntan with them.

As mentioned by Jim Corbett in his book, the ‘Man-Eaters of Kumaon’, the great British hunter went for Mahseer fishing in the rivers of the national park. Tourists need to seek permission for fishing in the Ramganga, Kosi, Mandal and Kothri rivers. They can hire a fishing rod, which is available at INR 500 per day.
