Explore through the dusty debris and cultural heritage of the town of Vasco Da Gama in Goa. Locally known as Vasco, no guesses from where the town gets its name from. Named after the Portuguese pioneer, Vasco Da Gama, the town was under Portuguese governance till 1961 and came into existence in 1543. Snuggled on the peninsular tip of the River Zuari, this little town is one of the few natural harbours that subsist in the country. With a culture and tradition that reflects the Portuguese heritage, the town of Vasco Da Gama attracts a lot of visitors and here is a list of must-see places you must visit.

Experience the grandeur, architecture, the ornate staircases and the opulence of St. Andrew's Church in this quiet pocket of Goa. Perched at the very entrance of the town, the church is bursting of character with decorative interiors. The church was first constructed in the year 1570 A.D but got attacked and demolished by the soldiers of Adil Shah in 1578 A.D. Reconstructed in the year 1594 A.D, the church now has a simplistic exterior with elaborate decorative interiors. As one of the oldest churches of the town, the church is crammed with visitors irrespective of when you visit.

A sprawling retreat, the Japanese Garden, nestled on the edge of the Mormugao Ridge, offers a breathtaking view of the Arabian Sea and the islands standing amidst the sea. The garden's striking milieu bestowed with a stunning panoramic view of the Arabian Sea is beyond description. As one of the only two Naval Aviation Museums of the country, this museum is a major tourist attraction. This indoor exhibit is a two-storeyed gallery, that shines a light on the stories and evolution of the Indian Air and Naval forces. Built in the year 1998, the museum exhibits the progression of the Indian Naval Air Arm over the years. Some of the artefacts are even kept outside the museum owing to their sizes. From vintage documents of historic significance to exceptional artefacts, the museum is a must-visit when in town.
