To help devotees travelling during the Rath Yatra festival, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) is operating several special trains from different parts of Odisha and neighbouring states. Along with regular train services to and from Puri, additional trains have been arranged for the Suna Besha and Adhara Pana rituals to handle the large number of pilgrims expected during the celebrations.

Special Trains to Puri
The special train services have been planned to provide better connectivity from almost every region of Odisha, making it easier for devotees to reach Puri.
For the Suna Besha festival, special trains will run to Puri from Paradeep, Angul, Bhadrak, Talcher, Kendrapada Road, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Brahmapur, Kendujhargarh, Khurda Road and Daspalla. These trains are expected to help thousands of pilgrims travel comfortably to the temple town during the festive period.
After the celebrations, special trains will operate from Puri to several destinations, including Talcher, Badampahar, Dhenkanal, Bangriposi, Rayagada, Bhadrak, Angul, Gunupur, Rourkela, Daspalla, Sambalpur, Palasa, Visakhapatnam and Shalimar. These return services have been introduced to ensure smooth travel for devotees heading back home.
To manage the additional crowd during the Adhara Pana ritual, East Coast Railway will also operate more special trains to Puri from Brahmapur, Daspalla, Angul, Kendujhargarh, Paradeep, Bhadrak and Khurda Road.
For the return journey after Adhara Pana, special trains will depart from Puri to Talcher, Dhenkanal, Bangriposi, Bhadrak, Angul, Daspalla, Khurda Road, Brahmapur, Kendujhargarh and Paradeep.
Advisory for Passengers
Railway officials said these special services have been introduced to ensure safe, smooth and comfortable travel for the large number of devotees visiting Puri during Rath Yatra. Passengers are advised to check train schedules in advance and book their tickets early, as a heavy rush is expected throughout the festival period.
