Residents in several parts of Bhopal are likely to face scheduled power cuts on Sunday, May 10, 2026, due to maintenance and line shifting work being carried out by the electricity department and metro-related infrastructure agencies. According to the latest shutdown schedule, electricity supply will remain disrupted for different durations across residential colonies, commercial zones, and surrounding neighbourhoods.
Officials have stated that the shutdowns are necessary for line maintenance, metro line shifting work, EHV restraining work, and transformer-related operations. Residents have been advised to complete essential household and office-related work in advance to avoid inconvenience during the outage period.
Why Is The Power Supply Being Interrupted?
The planned shutdown has been announced mainly for maintenance operations and metro corridor-related line shifting work in different parts of the city. In some areas, power supply will also remain suspended due to 5 MVA PTR removing work and EHV line restraining work.
Apart from electricity disruption, water supply may also be affected in selected areas because of feeder main line shifting work linked to the Bhopal Metro Rail Project.
Areas Facing Power Cuts From 10 AM To 2 PM
Electricity supply is expected to remain suspended between 10 am and 2 pm in the following localities:
- Bharat Nagar
- Chhatrasal Nagar
- Malviya Nagar
- Jeevan Sagar Apartment
- Aanchal Tower and nearby areas
- Gwal Mohalla
- Kathputli Mohalla
- Roshanpura
- Sharda Apartment
- Kashi Complex
The shutdown in these areas is mainly linked to line shifting and transformer maintenance work.
Areas Facing Power Cuts From 10 AM To 4 PM
Power supply is likely to remain affected between 10 am and 4 pm in several commercial and residential pockets, including:
- Govindpura Market
- Govind Garden Colony
- Rambha Nagar
- New Kabad Khana
- Liaquat Market
- Ibrahimganj
- Rajdev Colony
- Shanti Nagar
- New Sindhi Colony and surrounding areas
Officials said metro line shifting work and maintenance operations are the primary reasons behind the outage in these zones.
Areas Facing Power Cuts From 10 AM To 5 PM
Longer shutdowns have also been scheduled in selected areas from 10 am to 5 pm. These include:
- Chambal
- Bijli Nagar Colony
- Govindpura Office Campus
- Sector-H Industrial Area
- Akansha Sales Promoters region
The electricity department stated that metro line shifting work by AFCON and EHV line restraining work will be carried out during this period.
Areas Facing Shutdown Between 11:30 AM And 2 PM
Several northern and central localities of Bhopal will also witness temporary power cuts between 11:30 am and 2 pm. These include:

- 80 Feet Road
- Semra
- Khejra
- Bhanpur
- Kolua
- Damkheda
- Chandbad
- Vijay Nagar
- Durga Nagar Colony
- Bajaria
- BES Colony
- Rajendra Nagar
- Dwarka Nagar
- Krishna Nagar
- Harsiddhi Campus
Authorities have linked the interruption in these areas to transformer removal and maintenance work.
Water Supply Also Likely To Be Affected
In addition to the electricity shutdown, water supply may remain affected on May 11 and May 12 in several areas due to shifting of a 400 mm feeder main line from DIG Bungalow Square to Arif Nagar under the metro project.

- Qazi Camp
- Tila Jamalpura
- Arif Nagar
- Congress Nagar
- Green Park
- Chowkse Nagar
- Nariyalkheda
- Nishatpura

- Silk Centre
- Rambha Nagar
Residents are advised to store sufficient water and charge essential electronic devices before the scheduled shutdown timings begin. Authorities have also requested citizens to cooperate during the maintenance work to ensure smoother infrastructure upgrades across the city.
