Mylaralinga Temple, Dharwad

Mylaralinga Temple is a temple dedicated to god Mailari which is a form of Lord Shiva. It's a 12th century temple built in the Chalukyan style of architecture. Located on a hill called 'Mylaralinga Gudda', there are quite a few Shiv Lingas installed outside this temple.

The unique feature of this temple is the position of the deity. The deity is placed such that it receives the first rays of sun falling on the city! The inner sanctum of the temple has an idol of Chaturbhuja Milara and the ceilings are engraved with lotus designs.
