The Valley of Flowers

A multicolored blanket made of hundred of kinds of flowers, that bloom in different period of time and makes the valley looks like changing its colors, got the valley of flowers placed on the list of UNESCO world heritage sites. Valley of Flowers is located in the Chamoli district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Its location near Badrinath and Rishikesh (approximately 300 km) makes it one of the most visited places in Uttarakhand. Fanned over an area of 87.50 square km, this 8 km long and 2 km wide valley sits at 3658 meters in Bhyuder valley.

Its mesmerising position at the meeting point of the Himalayan ranges, Zanskar, and Western and Eastern Himalayas makes the valley fertile and perfect land for the wild untamed blooms of flowers. Surrounded by white peaches the valley was hidden until 1931 when Mountaineer Frank S Smith discovered it while exploring the place. the valley of flowers was declared The National Park of India in 1982 and now it is a famous tourist attraction in Uttarakhand.
