Badrinath Temple, Chamoli

Renowned across the world as a revered religious site, Badrinath in Uttarakhand, is a popular pilgrimage destination. Being one of the four Char Dham and Chota Char Dham pilgrimage yatras, Badrinath attracts visitors from all over the world with its undeniable natural aura and transcendental natural grandeur. Situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River, Badrinath sits atop a Garhwal hill with an average height of 3100 meters, in the backdrop of the mighty Neelkanth mountain. Served by the twin mountain ranges of Nar and Narayan, Badrinath Dham is perched at an altitude of about 10,000 feet in the Kumaon Himalayas.

The temple is dedicated to lord Vishnu and finds its mention in the 108 Divya Desams which is devoted to lord Vishnu. The temple abodes a 1m tall black stone idol of Lord Vishnu which is considered to be one of the 8 self-manifested statues of Vishnu.
