Masunda Talao, Thane

2

The Masunda Talao, or the Talao Pali (the word ‘Talao’ stands for Lake in Hindi), as it is famously known, is the biggest and most popular lake in Thane District. This lake stands out amongst the bevy of lakes found in Thane and is just 15 to 20 minutes away from the Thane City Centre.

Considered to be one of the prettiest lakes in Maharashtra, this lake offers a series of activities like boating and water-scooters for the quintessential tourist. This spot is a hit amongst visitors who love to indulge in a little local food, with many food stalls set up in the nearby area.

Families generally hang out on the lake side here on a typical weekend to wash away the hectic week’s stress and to participate in a little fun. The Kopineshwar Temple located on the banks of the Masunda Talao is the oldest temple to be found in the entire district of Thane. It was built and renovated centuries back, in about 1750 AD by Chimajji Appa.
