Redi Ganpati, Redi

The Redi Ganpati is the sole reason why the village of Redi got its popularity. The story behind the famous Ganesh Temple is not only beguiling but astounding too.

It is said that on April 18th, 1976, a truck driver who went by the name of Sadanand Nagesh Kambali slept in his parked truck at Redi and dreamt of Lord Ganesh blessing him with his divine appearance, asking him to dig at that very place to find him. Since the driver had immense faith in Lord Ganesha, he convinced and assembled a team of local workers and dug out the statue from the sea shore.

An investigation later on revealed that the idol was made during the rule of the Pandavas. A few days later, the vehicle of Lord Ganesha – the mouse – was also excavated from the nearby area.

The deity is 6 ft in height and 4 ft in width and looks adorable. The temple made surrounding it is beautiful and sees a humongous number of devotees each year on the occasions of Ganesh Chaturthi and Sankashta Chaturthi.
