An Orchid garden in Kerala is unheard of, as there was nothing as such so far. Adding to the already flourishing tourism development, Kerala is to open its very first Orchid Garden in Vagamon.
Kerala is one of the top tourist destinations in India and the state sees a rush of visitors from around the world through the year. With its hill stations, beautiful temples, ancient palaces and gushing waterfalls to name a few marvels, Kerala is a mixed bag of all the aspects of tourism clubbed together. Now there is one more reason too, a whole garden of orchids!

Vagamon is one of the natural wonders of Kerala. It has such magnetic beauty that one who visits the place will surely plan a second trip, just to witness the scenic splendour. Now this is new to even those who've been to the place several times. This unique Orchid garden is to open its first phase to the public by mid January, 2014.
Orchids! Really??
There's nothing to hype about it. Yes, we're talking about Orchids that has been a thing of beauty among nature lovers and poets. Kerala too has a reason to boast of the beautiful orchids now. That too a garden exclusively for Orchids! Doesn't that sound amazing? Yes, the sight of thousands of Orchids carpeted would be an experience, not just a sight worth marvelling.
Where in Vagamon?
The 15 hectare garden of Orchids is located in Kolahalamedu in Vagamon. The place may not be familiar to many. From Vagamon, take the Pullikkanam road and you'll reach the spot that already calls for attention with its mesmerising beauty.

The garden is at a land that's taken care by the Kerala Forest Development Corporation. With Karnataka tourism gaining its popularity with Coorg rising to the best tourist spot of India, the Kerala tourism too is catching up. The loss of Munnar as the best tourist spot in India has not let the state lose its glory. The state is here with a new concept, an Orchid Garden.
A Pride of Kerala
There are many gardens in India that are frequented by visitors throughout the year, several of them are Orchid gardens too. But Kerala has never enjoyed this so far, and it is no more a dream for the state to flaunt her blooming beauty. The Orchids that welcome you here are a rare variety of Orchids that are found in the Western Ghats.
The garden has been set up keeping in mind the convenience of the visitors that are likely to flock in once the news is out. A neat parking lot has been constructed to give a hassle-free experience to the visitors.
