The linga present here is known as 'Gangodbhava' when water from projecting rocks drips over it. Devotees from across the country visit this temple during Mahashivaratri and Car Festivals. Around 10,000 pilgrims throng the temple during Mahashivaratri, which lasts for 10 days; tourists are permitted to go inside the cave during these days.

They have to walk bare foot on their entire journey of Bhairaveshwara Shikhara as the entire area is considered to be the holy abode of Lord Shiva. After coming out of the temple, pilgrims will come across steps that will lead them to Mohini Shikhara.
