Who Was Gajraja Balarama And Why PM Modi Is Sad After His Death
Gajraja Balarama, an elephant, played a significant role in every year's Mysuru Dasara.
The elephants in the Dasara procession in Mysuru are a representation of India's rich cultural beauty.
They serve as evidence of the close bond between people and animals.
The elephants receive training to carry out a variety of activities throughout the parade during Dasara.
They carry numerous additional idols and culturally significant symbols, as well as the idol of the goddess Chamundeshwari, the festival's main deity.
Balarama, who celebrated Mysuru Dasara by carrying the golden howdah thirteen times, was born in 1958.
Balarama was a composed elephant who made a significant contribution to training other elephants.
Due to TB and age-related health problems, Balarama died on Sunday evening.
On Monday, 8th May 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respect to Balarama and expressed his sorrow.
